Sodakian Servant Warriors was incorporated in April of 2022 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Our name is a play on SOuth DAKota, SoDak. We are former military and first responders who are passionate about community safety. Our goal is to engage community members to be involved at a level appropriate for them, whether as an individual, family, civic organization, church or business. We also want to provide former military and first responders a Team and a Mission, not just a job. We have spent our lives serving and protecting our country and community, accumulating knowledge and skills. We want to continue to serve by making that knowledge and skills available to our community.
Bob Baker is an experienced leader, speaker, and management professional. While he started his professional career in law enforcement, training and working a narcotics detection dog, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance Summa cum Laude and began his flying career with the U.S. Air Force, first flying the B-52 and later the B-1B. He taught at the Air Force Electronic Warfare School and was in charge of the Canadian Air Force Electronic Warfare Training Center. While working in the Air Force Bob completed his MBA in Management. After a distinguished flying career, Bob chaired the Business department, and was the Academic Dean at National American University in Rapid City. This was followed by an unlikely transition to the Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration where he managed screening operations in Rapid City, South Dakota, at all commercial airports in Mississippi, and at all commercial airports in South Carolina in succession.
These days Bob is working toward using his life experience, education, and knowledge to ensure Sodakian is successful, competitive, and serving the needs of the local community. He is married with one daughter and three grandsons who live in Charlotte, NC. In his spare time he enjoys golf, racquetball, and classic cars.
Leland was an Able Seaman in the Merchant Marine, earned his commercial diver certification, and logged 2,000 hours of time underwater doing NDT/metal particle inspection and operating machinery. He completed Basic Police Training at the Clackamas County (Oregon) Inter-Agency Reserve Academy, received Master Qualification for firearms from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department. After a short stint as a city police officer, Leland returned to the private sector, starting and, for the next 21 years operating, a Chauffeur service specializing in personal protection. During this time he completed the FEMA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training, Executive Protection Agent training from AS Solution Global Training Academy, and trained Chauffeurs for his company, as well as other companies, in personal protection, situational awareness and high stress vehicle operations. He led the security team at his church in Oregon for 10 years.
Leland and Kathy have three grown children, but, much to Kathy's dismay, no grandchildren yet. They moved from Portland, Oregon to Rapid City, South Dakota in 2021, and are loving the friendly community, wholesome atmosphere and hiking the beautiful outdoors.
Having grown up in The City of Detroit, Ed learned the value of being aware of his surroundings. His service as a Unit Supply Specialist in the 1st Ranger Battalion taught him a multitude of lessons, not the least of which was skill with firearms.
After his enlistment, he returned to Detroit and worked as an Emergency Room Technician for eight years during the era in which Detroit became known as “The Murder Capitol,” and where “Devil’s Night” was an international story. This experience, coupled with the interest in firearms sparked by his service in the US Army, inspired him to explore the world of defensive firearm use.
Ed has completed Defensive Pistol Classes from SAS Group in Michigan, and Strategos International’s Tactical Application of the Pistol. He is an instructor for the South Dakota Enhanced Concealed Carry Permit, and an NRA-certified instructor for Basic Pistol, Personal Security Inside the Home, and Handgun Safety. He has a BA in Management and Human Relations from MidAmerica Nazarene University.
Ed has two sons. He enjoys reading, history, snarky dialogue and cats. He has a low tolerance for negative people, and no tolerance at all for pineapple on pizza.
